| Description: | Zirconia alumina 4” x 24” Sanding Belt features premium zirconia grains, fully resin bonded to a strong x-weight polyester backing offering a sturdy but flexible belt, that can withstand heat and thrives in high pressure grinding applications. These belts are extremely versatile; the premium dense zirconia grains on each 4” x 24” inch wide sanding belt were formulated for aggressive and heavy stock removal applications while the open coated characteristic allows it to grind on softer materials without loading. Due to the self-sharpening properties of zirconia, it will cut faster and more consistently for a longer duration of time than aluminum oxide alternatives. The zirconia grains can last 2-3 times longer than aluminum oxide grains on belts when being used for heavy-duty, aggressive applications. The 4” x 24” Zirconia belts can be run wet or dry and are available in 36 grit, 40 grit, 60 grit, 80 grit, and 120 grit. These belts are designed to be used with a Portable Belt Sander. The 36-grit did a great job on the aggressively rough under-side from a reclaimed oak butcherblock. I couldn't be happier
I'm very happy with this sanding belt. I'm sanding a 36" X 40" steel plate and I was 80% done when my sander quit working. Once I get the sander going again the belt will be put to work again. Shipping from Empire was great, ahead of scheduled delivery.

Product works great as a general purpose grinding belt for both wood and metal in a large home shop. Holds up as well or better than the big box store brands.

I need to put these belts through the paces, but early observations include; belt isn't gumming up, the seam is holding really well, and well,... it's doing what I need it to do. I couldn't ask for more.
Doing a room floor in the basement. The first pass was great. Belts last and retain grit for quite a while.

So far the new sanding belts are proving to be very effective and durable. I used to use a different brand which I no longer can find. I am glad to have these new belts. I believe they will compare well with the former brand.
Taking shellac off a 130 year old cupped floor. These last and don't get clogged immediately - when they do I take a stiff steel brush and clean it out then go again and again. I've used them to start to plane rough boards too before planing becasue it is faster than home owner type planers. And I can use them on steel. Hint for bench mount belt sanders - non Zircon - when they get very smooth after long use I use them to hone kitchen knives in seconds.
