Additionally, these surface conditioning belts resist loading which improves the finish and greatly extends the life of the belt. These belts are extremely durable and offer excellent flexibility for detail work around contours, edges, and irregular surfaces. The thin profile of these belts make them ideal for work within weld seams.These 1/2x18 non woven belts are the perfect option for cleaning, deburring, finishing or blending when minimal stock removal is required and the integrity of the work pieces is a high priority. United StatesThe blue, fine grit (BS02010) belt was used for less than a minute to remove light scratches from stainless steel. When I showed belt file and belt to someone 2 weeks later, I noticed cracks in the surface and separation from the backing. I will not be ordering any more of these.

United StatesThe belts arrived crammed in a bag of other belts and I was disappointed, but when I complained they sent another set for free. They seem to work well, though I had to hand turn the belts a bit to get them to spin on my sander.
United StatesI've tested a few of the belts for my M12 band file. Good quality, and good results. I have to repair a rust spot on my car; these will do the trick, metal prep, sanding, paint prep. I am a wood worker and will use the belts for wood too. And, on a lark, sharpened some knives quickly. I've used Empire for several yrs now; great products & prices, fast shipping! What's not to love?
United StatesI bought 1/2" x 18" Surface Conditioning Sanding Belt (Belt Grit: Ultra Fine (Gray)) BS02040. Material was so thick it would not work in my 1/2 X 18" belt sander. Useless to me.

United StatesI use these to finish copper. They work well. Do not use alot of pressure as they will heat up and die sooner as in break apart at the seam.
United StatesThese belts were the perfect answer for the final abrasive step in polishing my aluminum boat exhaust manifolds. Very convoluted surfaces and tons of nooks and crannies. These belts on a capable mini belt sander saved me HOURS of work and left a surface ready for the buffer, not to mention saving the muscles in my hands and fingers. So glad someone decided to make these. Great product!
