Of course, that stuff is supposed to be rough. It is well made and makes for a nice final finish. The abrasive stays on the paper a lot longer than similar sheets from the "home store". I'll never buy abrasives from a "home store" again. This is good stuff; and, available in large packs. Yeah for Empire!!

Polishing is one of the most important parts of your knife build. If it’s done right your work is very satisfying. I grind out the last part of the profile. Then I start polishing or (sanding) with 120 grit, go up to 220 grit. After I have polished out all of the 120 grit sanding marks then go up to 320 grit and progress up to 400 grit. Once I’m satisfied with those results I go to 600 grit. After that I’m home free to start buffing on my buffer. This sand paper is one of the very best on the market today and I have tried a lot of different papers. This is what I buy. The best.
Great product. Didn’t have any issues with wet sanding. Easy to fold and tear it in 1/2 sheets. Left it setting in my water bucket all night, and still working great the next day. Will buy again. Also had great service with the order.
