Product Description

4.5" Aluminum Cut Off Wheel — AO+SiC Blend, Type 1, 25 Pack

Standard metal cutting discs load up fast on aluminum — the heat melts the material into the abrasive and the disc stops cutting. These BHA 4.5" aluminum cut off wheels use an aluminum oxide and silicon carbide blend that resists that buildup, stays cooler during the cut, and keeps working through aluminum, copper, brass, and bronze without gumming up. The .045" profile keeps the kerf narrow and the cut clean, which means less burr, less cleanup, and material that's ready for the next step faster. Comes in a 25-pack sized for shops that go through discs regularly and DIYers who want to stop running out mid-job.

What Makes This Disc Different

  • The Hybrid Advantage: We don't just repurpose a steel disc. The AO+SiC blend uses silicon carbide grains its self-sharpening properties on soft metals and Aluminum Oxide (AO) for structural durability. The SiC fractures under pressure, constantly "cleaning" the cutting face so you never have to stop to de-clog your wheel.
  • Anti-Loading Tech: Formulated specifically for non-ferrous metals with low melting points. The disc generates significantly less friction than standard wheels, keeping the workpiece cool and preventing "glazing" or loading.
  • Ultra-Thin .045" kerf is thinner than most general-purpose cut off wheels. Less material removed per cut means less heat buildup, less burr on the cut edge, and less cleanup before the next job.
  • MPA Tested, ANSI B7.1 and EN 12413 compliant. Built to withstand the rigorous demands of professional fabrication and production lines. Max RPM is marked on every disc.
  • 25-pack per-disc pricing for regular non-ferrous cutting. Not a one-off sampler. Sized for shops running aluminum, copper, or brass cuts on a regular basis and operators who don't want to stop mid-job to reorder.

Product Features

  • Aluminum oxide / silicon carbide (AO+SiC) abrasive blend — resists loading on aluminum, copper, brass, and bronze. Standard ferrous discs gum up on these materials; this one doesn't.
  • .045" ultra-thin profile — narrower kerf than most general-purpose cut off wheels. Engineered to "slice" rather than rub for less heat per cut, less burr, and less material waste.
  • Fiberglass reinforced mesh backing — supports the thin disc profile under cutting load. Keeps the disc stable and intact at operating speed.
  • Max RPM: 13,300 — rated for 4.5" angle grinders. Fits DeWalt®, Makita®, Milwaukee®, Metabo®, Bosch®, and other 4.5" grinders with a standard 7/8" arbor.
  • Bulk 25-disc pack — per-disc cost makes sense for regular non-ferrous cutting, not one-off jobs.

Materials Suitable for Cutting

Material Notes
Aluminum Sheet, plate, angle iron, tubing, I-beam, bar stock. All thicknesses the disc is rated for.
Copper Tubing, pipe, bus bar, sheet. Cuts cleanly without loading.
Brass Bar stock, fittings, sheet.
Bronze Fittings, bar stock.
Other non-ferrous soft metals Any non-ferrous metal with a low melting point. Confirm Max RPM is not exceeded for the material.
Steel / stainless steel Not recommended. Use a standard aluminum oxide cut off wheel for ferrous metals.

Common Applications

Fabrication and metalworking:

  • Cutting aluminum plate, sheet, and angle iron to length
  • Aluminum tubing and square stock cuts for custom brackets and frames
  • Copper and brass pipe cuts for HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work
  • Welding prep cuts on non-ferrous stock — clean enough to go straight to the weld

Automotive and bodywork:

  • Cutting aluminum body panels, hoods, and trim
  • Diamond plate and extruded aluminum cuts for van and truck builds
  • Removing or modifying aluminum structural components

Production and shop use:

  • High-volume non-ferrous cutting where disc life and consistent cut quality matter
  • Any application where a standard ferrous disc keeps gumming up

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a regular metal cut off wheel to cut aluminum?

You can, but a standard aluminum oxide disc designed for ferrous metals create intense friction and will load up quickly on aluminum. The heat from cutting melts aluminum particles into the abrasive grains — the disc glazes over and stops cutting, or fails entirely. A disc with an AO+SiC blend is formulated to resist that buildup and stay cutting longer on aluminum and other soft metals.

What metals can this disc cut besides aluminum?

These discs work on aluminum, copper, brass, bronze, and other non-ferrous soft metals. They are not recommended for steel or stainless steel — use a standard ferrous-rated cut off wheel for those materials.

What angle grinders are these compatible with?

These fit any 4.5" angle grinder with a standard 7/8" arbor — DeWalt®, Makita®, Metabo®, Milwaukee®, Bosch®, and most other brands. Max RPM is 13,300, so confirm your grinder's rated RPM does not exceed that before use.

Are these discs certified or safety rated?

Yes. These discs are MPA Tested and comply with ANSI B7.1 and EN 12413. Manufacturing is ISO 9001 certified. Max RPM is marked on each disc — do not exceed it.
